Cabrera finished at the top
His best performance in this tournament
Augusta (Special).- On Friday, when he carded that 74 round which allowed him to almost pass the cut, Angel Cabrera proved that by making 35 putts there was no way of obtaining a good score in Augusta. ¨El Pato¨ could not find the necessary touch in the green to make the most of what the rest of his good game generated and he regreted that.
However, the improvement appeared on the last 36 holes, especially in the round he played yesterday, in which he carded a 68 that gave him the chance to dream about the best reward. On the first nine holes, he made 4 birdies (2, 3, 7, and 8), even though he stumbled with a bogey (4) and a double bogey (6).
However, a new birdie placed him just three shots of the lead. The ilussion turned off a little with a bogey on the 11th but he revived after he pulled out of thin air a birdie on the 13th and a remarkable eagle on the 15th. Once again, he was just three shots of the lead, with a small margin of error though, and a final bogey (16) and birdie (17) secured his best result at the Masters (he won USD 210,000). With the 8th position, Cabrera showed the best performance of an Argentinian in Augusta, behind that legendary second position of Roberto De Vicenzo in 1968, when he signed an incorrect scorecard which did not allow him to break the tie with Bob Goalby.
