Cabrera received like a hero back in Córdoba
He was followed by a mass motorcade to Villa Allende. Multiple tributes were paid to Augusta National winner for his second big triumph after 2007 US open
By La Voz del Interior Córdoba’s golf player Ángel “Pato” Cabrera, recent Champion at Augusta Golf Major Championship, was welcomed like a hero today in Córdoba and was followed by a mass motorcade to his Villa Allende hometown.
“Pato” arrived at Cordoba’s Airport at 2.26 p.m. and he was received by his family, friends and hundreds of fans who chorused “Go Champion!”
Overwhelmed by this warm welcome and wearing the traditional Augusta’s winners Green Jacket, Cabrera thanked for all the affection and dedicated his triumph to his family.
What was seen today was similar to “Pato’s” arrival in 2007 after winning US Open Title, his first Golf Major Championship which established him as one of the best Latin American golf players.
Once in Villa Allende, everybody received Cabrera on the streets and then moved to the Sports Center. “I am very happy, this is similar to what I lived in 2007", Cabrera said. And then he declares that he is planning to "Keep on winning Major Tournaments”.
“Pato” had some problems with his flight from Augusta to Miami. He was expected to arrive at Córdoba’s Ambrosio Taravella Airport at 1.30 p.m. but he arrived one hour later.
Cabrera wanted to be with his family again after such a wearing tournament full of official ceremonies, press conferences and a more-than-12-hour flight back to Argentina.
Eduardo "Gato" Romero was also one of the attendees who emphasized Cabrera’s achievement.
