Cabrera was second in an emotional finish April 15
The Argentine player led for much of the last round, and starred in an electrifying finish with Adam Scott, winner of an historic tournament.

There were two on the green of the second hole, in play off, and the air in Augusta is more and more electrifying. Is not for the storm, is the game of two golfers who are not giving any truce that has put the tension in red alert. Is breathtaking. For an instant everything in Augusta stays still, for the exception of that ball that belongs to Angel Cabrera, who is looking for a birdie. It looks like it will deviate to one side, but in a little bit, it starts to go straight to the hole. It stays at two, maybe three centimeters…
A minimum difference, but enough for Adam Scott who makes the shot and becomes the first Australian player to win the Masters of Augusta.
While Scott has his hands up high and Cabrera goes to him to congratulate him and hug him, Augusta 2013 starts making history.
A history with the best ingredients of sports emotions.
The final round was a rollercoaster of downs and recoveries.
Cabrera finished first on Saturday with Brandt Snedeker, and on the first holes all eyes were on these two players. After 5 bogeys on 11 holes, the chances for the American player started to fade away. Cabrera became bigger, and got birdies in holes 2 and 7, and was firm in first place with 3 strokes ahead. Nevertheless, his light started to turn off after a bogey on 10, and that ball that went to the water on the 13. A new bogey that cost him the lead.
The leadership was in the hands of three Australians: Scott, Marc Leishman and Jason Day, who did three birdies on the 13th, 14th and 15th. It looked that the tournament was his, but was out of the career after bogeys on 16th and 17th.
Leishman couldn’t stay on the lead, so the definition was between Scott and Cabrera, who got his chances back after a great birdie on the 16 hole.
Scott was playing before Cabrera, so he was the first to arrive at the green of the 18th where he did a birdie from more than 7 meters. The Australian celebrated like a victory. But with the past champion still on the golf course, you can never celebrate before time. “Fly, fly”, Cabrera asked his ball on the second hit. And the ball responded, it flew and also stayed close to the flag, perfect for a birdie. With 279 strokes each (-9), Cabrera and Scott had to go to play offs.
Cabrera was very closed to repeating history with a birdie on the first hole but the ball went to the right of the hole. The next hole was the last station in the rollercoaster.
The tough competition of Cabrera, was a merit for Scott for becoming the winner. The argentine player, who already knows what it is to wear that jacket, can save this tournament among his great memories. No doubt about it.
